Cardinal Golf and Country Club

Timothy Liddy was the project architect for Pete Dye of the 2007 remodel of The Cardinal Golf and Country Club, originally constructed in 1974 by Mr. Dye. The fully restored Par 70 layout was lengthened to provide a stern, but equitable test of golf for players of all skill levels. The course is both unique and demanding, providing scenic views covering over 140 acres of well-kept, rolling terrain. Its two lakes and meandering creeks add to both the beauty and challenge of the Cardinal, and its richly deserved reputation as one of the finest golf courses in the Carolinas.

The Cardinal Golf and Country Club is host to the  Cardinal Amateur, an invitational amateur golf tournament which attracts the best amateurs and mid-amateurs in the world. In 2012, players from 10 countries participated. Past participants include Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Jason Dufner, Carl Pettersson, Lucas Glover, David Duval, Bill Haas, Stewart Cink, Scott Hoch and Tim Clark, who holds the tournament record of 15 under par.
